2021 ABVMA President – Dr. Pat Burrage
Edmonton, AB — The Alberta Veterinary Medical Association (ABVMA) is pleased to announce that Dr. Pat Burrage has been appointed to the position of President, Alberta Veterinary Medical Association
for 2021.
Dr. Pat Burrage graduated from WCVM in 1989. He spent the first half of his career owning and operating a mixed animal practice in southern Alberta. He has spent the past 15 years in central Alberta where he owned and managed a mixed animal practice with five veterinarians, three registered veterinary technologists and four support staff in Bluffton.
He has been involved with the Alberta Veterinary Medical Association throughout his career, serving on the Food Animal Advisory Committee and most recently, a six-year term with the Complaint Review Committee.
After transitioning practice ownership to younger associates in Bluffton, Dr. Burrage moved on, and is currently employed at Lethbridge Animal Clinic, mentoring young veterinarians and providing veterinary consulting to cow calf and feedlot clients.
Dr. Burrage is very committed to agriculture. Home is in the country west of Bluffton, where he has a small herd of beef cows, along with an assortment of other animals (dogs, cats, horses, donkeys,
chickens, peacocks).
He is the proud father of three daughters, all of whom have left home but continue to help out on the farm. He spends his spare time exercising his two dogs by chasing pheasants, fly fishing and playing with his cows on the farm.
Dr. Burrage’s one-year term as President commenced following the ABVMA Annual General Meeting on Sunday, Feb. 28, 2021.
